My dear friends,
I challenge you all to challenge yourself!
WHY?In order to make this world a better place. Every day we hear about the many problems our planet is facing. Serious issues, often with a complicated political background. Problems you and I can not solve by ourselves. But that doesn't mean there is nothing we can do. We can actually make a big difference.
Many hands make light work. That's why I challenge you to look into the mirror and take your own lifestyle under the microscope. Then bring some seemingly small changes into your daily life. Don't make it too difficult. It has to be an effortless change. Now close your eyes and imagine what all these little changes in life can do as we all join in. Little differences add up and have a huge global impact. That's why I am asking you all to join.
Every day, starting now. This planet needs longevity. Don't you want to pass on this beautiful marble to the next generation? I'd love my daughters to enjoy all the majestic creatures on this planet just as much as I did. Elephants, rhino's, polar bears are all racing extinction. And although they are facing some very complicated problems, there is actually something we can do to avoid this from happening. So better start now!
OK, I'M IN, NOW WHAT?
Great! Time to challenge yourself, share this challenge along with a similar message (or this message) with all your friends and relatives, place it on your Facebook wall, tweet about it #challengetochange or hang it on your front door....pass it on through every possible way. And don't forget it is about the challenge, try to stick to it.
I CHALLENGE MYSELF BY:
- not accepting any plastic bags in the stores anymore (it still happens too often).- unplugging all the chargers of my electronic devices once I'm done using them.- introducing a meatless day within our family's week schedule. - using a non disposable plastic bottle for my drinks instead of buying bottles.- cycling to the office.- checking the lights in the whole house before I leave.
These are little differences, right? Easy. And I bet you're already doing all these things. Fantastic!
Keep up the good work! However, these are just an example. The challenge is to challenge yourself and find new simple ways to ensure a more sustainable future. And there's certainly no reason not to be a bit more vocal about it and try to inspire others.
If we all join in, we can initiate change. I think this photograph explains why there is a need. We can not continue like this. We're over-consuming, ove-producing...and we've reached the point where we need to change in order to safe this planet. But we still can.
So please JOIN in, pass it on and SHARE...so that we can heal the world, bit by bit.
Thank you!Jasper DoestHuman beingFather of two daughtersConservation Photographer
