– Nsenene –

Twice a year the arrival of rains in Uganda brings swarms of African edible bush crickets. Known locally as nsenene, these grasshopper- like insects are considered a delicacy in some parts of eastern and southern Africa. Trapping nsenene on a large scale has become an important source of income for many in recent decades. Alongside climate change and habitat loss, some fear these larger harvests pose a threat to this species. ̌
