As elephant numbers slowly rise, the balance between humans and elephants in rural Zambia is increasingly strained as both populations compete for limited resources. Expanding settlements and unsustainable agriculture encroach on elephant habitats, jeopardizing both human livelihoods and the elephant population. Can humans and elephants coexist?

The local population's role is crucial in fostering harmonious coexistence. Developing economically and socially viable coexistence models within the local community is vital for the long-term survival of both elephants and humans. ̌
